Now accepting registrations for our NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course – Distance Learning. The course is taught in two parts: students complete the NRA eLearning (self-study) portion first, then attend this instructor-led, hands-on session on Sunday, October 18.
Course fee: $150.00 Registration deadline: Wednesday, October 14, 2026 Instructor: Matthew Poirier, NRA Certified Pistol & CCW Instructor
Before attending the October 18 class, students must: - Register for the course through the NRA website (use the Register button below). - Complete the required NRA eLearning/self-study portion before attending the in-person class. - Complete all required online coursework and assessments. - Save or print proof of completion and bring it to class. - We strongly recommend completing the online portion at least 24–48 hours before the in-person training date, to allow time to address any registration or technical issues.
The in-person session covers the instructor-led and practical portions of the NRA Basic Pistol curriculum, including: - Firearm safety rules - Safe pistol handling - Pistol parts and operation - Loading and unloading procedures - Shooting fundamentals - Range safety and procedures - Hands-on practical exercises - Live-fire exercises - Required course evaluations and shooting exercises
Please note: students should not plan to complete the eLearning portion on October 18. The required online portion must be finished before arriving for the in-person class.
Details on what to bring — firearm and ammunition requirements, eye and ear protection, and other course-day instructions — will be sent to registered students before class.
